Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province was ranked fourth in the province in per capita disposable income last year, local media reported.

In 2021, the per capita disposable income of local residents in the city totaled 60,848 yuan ($9,566), a year-on-year increase of 9 percent.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 69,103 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent while that of fishermen amounted to 42,945 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent.

During the same period, the ratio of urban residents to fishermen in Zhoushan was 1.61, 0.33 lower than the provincial average.

Income from wage and salary, which grew 9.8 percent year-on-year, was still the main contributor to the rapid increase in income last year.

The reduced impact of COVID-19, more job opportunities and an improved social security system also contributed to the income increase in Zhoushan.

In the first 11 months of last year, the number of newly-registered companies and individual businesses in Zhoushan grew 21.7 percent and 3.6 percent year-on-year respectively. The city created 45,400 jobs, a year-on-year increase of 126.7 percent.
