Yu Chen, chairman of the Zhoushan Yachting Association, was invited to attend the 2022 MGM Macao International Regatta, which was held from Jan 13 to 16 in Macao Special Administrative Region.

Yu said after the competition that the trip presented him with a golden opportunity to learn more about the ways of promoting such an event.

He also revealed his plan to set up a Zhoushan sailing team and carry out professional training ahead of the next edition of the Macao competition.

According to Yu, Zhoushan is planning to organize two international regattas - an international sailing race on Shengsi Island, and a sailboat rally between Zhoushan and Jeju Island, South Korea - this year.

Yu added that he is looking forward to the rally with South Korea as it would be the first sailing event in China held between islands of different countries.

Yu said that the rally is expected to start from Zhoushan International Cruise Port and pass by Huaniao Island before ending at Jeju Island.

As the chairman of the Zhoushan Yachting Association, Yu has been promoting Zhoushan and popularizing sailing sports among Zhoushan residents by organizing professional competitions and bringing international sailing organizations to the city.
