Three scenic spots in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province were recently upgraded to national 3A-level ones, according to the local municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, tourism and sports.
Zhoushan is currently home to 33 national A-level scenic spots, including one 5A-level scenic spot – Putuo Mountain - and six 4A-level scenic spots.
Here are the three new 3A-level scenic spots.
Mayi Island

In recent years, Mayi Island has promoted the construction of a red culture education base as well as launched special travel routes featuring red culture education, shipbuilding experience, and marine culture.
Dongya Cliff scenic area

Located at the eastern end of Shengshan Island in Shengsi county, Dongya Cliff scenic area was opened to the public in 2015 and features steep mountains.
Sanmao's former residence

Sanmao was the pen name of Echo Chen Ping, a Chinese writer and translator from Taiwan whose ancestral residence was built by her grandfather in Chen village, Dinghai district.
Sanmao's former residence, which is now a scenic area, offers local delicacies, Sanmao-themed homestays, as well as literature- and rural sightseeing-themed travel routes. The scenic area is now a permanent site for the Sanmao Prose Prize ceremony.
