Fitness enthusiasts in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, welcomed the new year by climbing Gaodao Mountain on Jan 1, local media reported.

Two other venues for mountain climbing in Zhoushan are Dinghai and Putuo districts.
The mountain climbing events at the three venues in the city had the same theme - to welcome the new year and the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well as encourage local residents to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Organized by the Zhoushan bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, tourism, and sports, the event is part of the National New Year Mountain Climbing event, which has been held for the past seven years.
