Zhoushan harbors 2,085 islands

The number of islands in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has recently been updated to 2,085, according to the Zhoushan municipal government.

Specifically, 140.5 islands are located in Dinghai district, 743.5 in Putuo district, 571 in Daishan county and 630 in Shengsi county.

There are 141 inhabited islands in the city, of which 38.5 are in Dinghai, 45.5 in Putuo, 29 in Daishan, and 28 in Shengsi.

Among the inhabited islands, 50 are mainly used for costal tourism, 39 for port logistics, 20 for harbor industries, 16 for coastal and marine ecosystem conservation, four for marine science and education, two for clean energy, as well as two for modern fishery industries.

As Zhoushan Island is located both in Dinghai and Putuo districts, each district owns half of Zhoushan Island.

In addition, Zhoushan has 63,057.10 hectares of woods, 15,972.90 hectares of wetland, 14,601.83 hectares of cultivated land, 5,434.53 hectares of grassland, and 3,919.88 hectares of garden plot.
