Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province will explore the application of seafood refrigeration technology in storing beef made in Dazhou, Southwest China's Sichuan province, local media reported on Dec 12.
The move is of great importance to the development of Dazhou's beef processing industry.
Shuxuan spotted cows are the special produce of Xuanhan county in Dazhou. In 2020, the county reared 17,500 cows and generated 5.05 billion yuan ($739 million) in output from cow farming.
"Fresh storage techniques and cold-chain logistics are key to maintaining the quality of Xuanhan beef when transporting them," said Pan Jun, an official from Zhoushan offering assistance in Xuanhan.
"Take Zhoushan for example. It usually takes nearly 30 hours to transport cows from Xuanhan to Zhoushan," added Pan.
The liquid nitrogen quick-freezing technology can reduce tissue damage and preserve freshness, according to Cai Yong, head of Zhoushan Ocean Research Center of Zhejiang University.
The technology has already been used on aquatic products in Zhoushan.
