Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province published measures to support the high-quality development of its homestay industry on Oct 11.

In recent years, Zhoushan's homestay industry has experienced rapid development and the city currently has more than 4,000 homestays, including 101 boutique homestays and four homestay complexes.

These measures specify the development of homestays in the city from boutique homestays to homestay complexes to homestay clusters.

Zhoushan defines the homestay cluster as a cluster featuring cultural and natural landscapes, as well as integrating various homestays, public services, and other commercial activities.

Covering no more than 1 square kilometer, homestay clusters will be designed and developed by homestay management companies.

A one-time subsidy of 500,000 yuan ($776,800) will be given to renowned homestay brands that decide to operate in Zhoushan to support the construction of supporting facilities.
