Zhoushan increases basic living allowance

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province is expected to increase the basic living allowance from 810 yuan ($125.59) per person per month to 910 yuan starting from Nov 1.

Statistics show that the city is currently home to 7,026 families receiving the basic living allowance and 715 impoverished citizens who will receive subsidies equivalent to no less than 1.3 times the basic living allowance per month.

Recently, Zhoushan has raised the subsidies to impoverished citizens from 1,053 yuan to 1,183 yuan per month.
