Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the third largest port in global container handling capacity, added another two routes along the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative over the National Day holiday.
The Far East Cheer container liner, which was loaded with 254 twenty-feet equivalent units, made its maiden voyage along the Vladivostok – Asia route, which passes by Vladivostok in Russia, as well as Zhoushan, Shanghai, and Qingdao ports in China.
The Maersk Cape Verde container liner started operating along another BRI route after being loaded with 4,196 TEUs at Dapukou wharf on Oct 4, with the route linking South Korea, Nigeria, Ghana, as well as other BRI countries.
The Dapukou container wharf in the Jintang port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port has launched 20 international routes. In the first nine months of the year, the wharf had a cargo throughput of 1.11 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 3.97 percent.
