The 2021 Zhoushan Islands Triathlon started soliciting participants, according to organizers at a news conference held in the city.
The sports event is scheduled to begin on Oct 24 in Zhujiajian, a 4A-level scenic spot in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.
The event includes a full triathlon (51.5 kilometers), a half triathlon (25.75 km), a 25-km bicycling and running race, as well as a 5.75-km swimming and running race. A total of 1,000 participants will be divided into 24 groups by gender and age.
All of the participants are expected to start from Zhujiajian International Sand Sculpture Art Square and pass by Nansha scenic area, Huandao Road, Guanyin Shrine, Daqing Mountain, as well as other scenic spots in the city.
Four other supporting activities, including a 10-km run on Qingshan Mountain, a teenager bicycling and running race, an online cycling challenge, as well as a triathlon-themed fair, will be held from Oct 23 to 24.
Located in the southeastern area of the Zhoushan Islands, Zhujiajian is the fifth largest island among the archipelago's 1,390 islands with a total area of 74 square km. It is also one of the three most popular scenic spots in Zhoushan.
