Zhoushan administers COVID-19 vaccines to 41,717 students

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has administered the first shot of COVID-19 vaccines to 41,717 students aged 12 to 17 as of Sept 5, statistics from the local municipal education bureau showed.

The figure represented 95.56 percent of the total students in the age range.

Since Aug 1, Zhoushan has started offering vaccines to residents aged 12 to 17. All the schools in the city will start administering the second shot of vaccines to students, ensuring that all students will be fully vaccinated by the end of September.

From Sept 6, the price for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing has been reduced from 80 yuan ($12.38) to 60 yuan.

COVID-19 vaccination rates among the province's medical staff, public sector staff (excluding public hospital workers), and higher education institution students were 89.6 percent, 89.7 percent, and 80.5 percent respectively.

Zhejiang currently has a total of 1,822 clinics that are qualified to administer COVID-19 vaccinations. Collectively, these clinics can deliver one million shots per day.
