Bluetooth speakers developed by Zhoushan Daily Book Media Co Ltd are expected to promote intangible cultural heritage items in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, local media reported.

The speaker is modeled after the drum used for Zhoushan gong and drum performances, an intangible cultural heritage item in the city that is usually seen at weddings, funerals, temple fairs, as well as other ceremonies.

A person in charge of Zhoushan Daily Book Media Co Ltd said that Zhoushan has an abundance of intangible cultural heritage items, with most of them boasting promising prospects in developing relevant culturally creative products.

He added that it is of great significance to develop cultural derivatives from Zhoushan gong and drum performances, fishermen's songs, wooden boat making skills, as well as other municipal-level intangible cultural heritage items.

"However, Zhoushan has not yet performed well in producing creative products for local intangible cultural heritage items," he said. "To fill this gap, our company has decided to create series products for that."

The bluetooth speaker is their first creation in the vein, with more similar products to be developed. These products will be used as souvenirs for guests, while also be sold both online and offline.
