A painting and calligraphy exhibition is underway at Jintang Cultural Center in Jintang town, Dinghai district, Zhoushan, running until Aug 28.
The exhibition showcases the artworks of Jintang native Xu Jingyi, as well as her two classmates Hu Hairuo and Xu Yiyao.
The exhibition includes traditional Chinese paintings themed around birds, flowers, landscape, and human figures. They also include burnt ink paintings, which are rarely seen in China.
Born in 2000, Xu started practicing painting and calligraphy when she was eight years old. She won the National Youth Painting and Calligraphy Competition many times. In addition, her works have been exhibited in the United States and Singapore.
The ongoing exhibition is expected to be held at Harvard University, Cornell University, University of Cambridge, as well as University College London in 2021 and 2022.
