Putuo Island Park in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has been shortlisted as an outstanding example of the big garden project in the province, local media reported on July 29.

Shortlisted areas cover renowned towns, villages, mountain parks, island parks, relic parks, industrial platforms, and ancient footpaths. Putuo Island Park was the only island park on the list.

Since 2020, Putuo district has ramped up efforts to promote the construction of the island park, making full use of the traditional wooden boat making skills and the local spots that have a strong cultural atmosphere, such as Shen Family's Residence and Mayi Island.

In the first half of the year, Putuo district received 17.088 million tourists and generated 22.53 billion yuan ($3.48 billion) in tourism revenue, with respective year-on-year increases of 55.88 percent and 45.3 percent.

Dongji Island in Putuo consists of 28 islands and 108 reefs, with Miaozihu Island, Qingbang Island, Dongfushan Island, as well as Huangxing Island being the most famous. [Photo/WeChat account: zjzsrbs]
