Updated health code includes information about vaccination status

Updated : 2021-07-30 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Zhejiang in East China started updating its QR health code, which now contains information about people's vaccination status, on July 28, Zhoushan Daily reported.

The updated health code is composed of a symbol of the Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which consists of a "Z" representing Zhejiang and a snake representing medicine and the medical profession, and words.

Those who have been fully vaccinated can simply refresh their health codes or reposition him or herself on Alipay or on the mobile application of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province ("浙里办" in Chinese) and the green words "COVID-19 vaccination has been completed" will appear under the code.

Those who are not yet fully vaccinated will receive the same health code as those who are fully vaccinated, but the words under the code will read "COVID-19 vaccine has been received", and the color will be gray.

On July 28 alone, 815,000 Zhoushan residents had updated their health codes, according to the Zhoushan Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Statistics from the center show that as of July 27, more than 1.38 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in the city and 594,000 local residents had finished vaccination.

"All the vaccination sites in Zhoushan have resumed operations after Typhoon In-Fa," said a staff member at the center, who suggested that local residents receive vaccines as soon as possible to build an immune barrier in the population.

"We need 80 percent or more of the population vaccinated in the country to build an immune barrier," said China's top epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan in an interview with Xinhua.
