Zhoushan's GDP up 13.2% in H1

The GDP of Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province experienced a 13.2 percent year-on-year increase in the first half of the year, local media reported on July 28.

The city's average annual GDP growth rate for the past two years reached 12.5 percent.

The added value of industrial output in Zhoushan surged 28.8 percent year-on-year from January to June this year, 8 percentage points higher than provincial average, while the profits generated by enterprises above designated size in the city soared 360 percent year-on-year to 17.04 billion yuan ($2.63 billion).

The total volume of social consumer retail sales in Zhoushan increased 11.5 percent year-on-year in the first six months of the year, while the sales volume of the wholesale and retail industry in the city grew 26.5 percent year-on-year.

The imports and exports of the city jumped 39.4 percent year-on-year to 114.86 billion yuan in the Jan-June period.

Its exports increased 34.8 percent year-on-year to 39.37 billion yuan, while its imports soared 41.9 percent to 75.49 billion yuan during the same period.

The cargo throughput of Zhoushan port area totaled 303.16 million metric tons in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent, while the throughput of grain and oil at Zhoushan port area experienced a significant 63.2 percent year-on-year increase.

An additional 6,826 enterprises and 8,354 individual businesses registered in the city in the Jan-June period respectively, with year-on-year increases of 51 percent and 16.2 percent.
