Zhoushan female entrepreneurs weather storm by online sales

Updated : 2021-07-28 (chinadaily.com.cn)

In order to reduce losses for female farmers in Zhoushan during the recent rainstorms, the Putuo Women's Federation launched an online fruit purchase event to sell nearly 2,500 kilograms of fruit on July 24.

Before Typhoon In-Fa made landfall in Zhoushan, East China’s Zhejiang province on July 25, the women's federations in Zhoushan managed to identify three farms operated by female entrepreneurs that needed help to harvest fruit and to market them for sales.

In just half a day, these women's federations helped local farms sell 1,230 kg of watermelons, 585 kg of grapes, and 675 kg of pears.

They also helped these farms deliver fruit to their buyers before the fruit spoils in the hot summer days.
