A total of 6,864 residents in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province have been relocated to local emergency shelters as of July 24 before Typhoon In-Fa made landfall in the province on July 25, local media reported.

All the emergency shelters offer daily necessities and medical services, with staff members on duty around the clock to ensure a safe and orderly environment.

The emergency shelter located at Zhoushan No 2 Primary School accommodated 171 people. It is equipped with air conditioners and electric fans.

People are required to register their basic information, show their health code, and have their temperature taken before entering the shelter, which also offers basic medical service to these people, according to Wang Su, who is responsible for Zhoushan No 2 Primary School's emergency shelter.

Sun Chunlan, a migrant worker from Southwest China's Chongqing, said that it is her first time to encounter a typhoon, adding that she has brought some food and water to the shelter.

Sun added that she and her husband were satisfied with the environment at the shelter.

Most of the people at the emergency shelter are construction workers who live in portable dwellings at the construction sites.
