The Zhoushan Federation of Trade Unions offered free cold drinks and popsicles at the city lounges to local outdoor workers during the scorching summer days, local media reported on July 13.

"About one week ago, the union equipped the lounge with a refrigerator and filled it with bottled spring water and popsicles, offering them to outdoor workers free of charge," said Sun Jingjing, lobby manager of the Zhoushan branch of the Bank of Wenzhou where a city lounge is located.

Since 2018, the trade union federation has established lounges at different places throughout the city for outdoor workers. Located within banks, gas stations, pharmacies, and hotels, these lounges offer drinks, commonly used pharmaceuticals, as well as charging facilities to outside workers.

Zhoushan currently has 107 lounges, nine of which are equipped with a refrigerator.

The union will equip more of these lounges with a refrigerator in the future.
