Liuheng aims to bolster its hydrogen industry

A meeting was held in Beijing on July 6 to promote the development of the hydrogen industry on Liuheng Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, local media reported.

Representatives from more than 30 energy industry giants and research institutes, including BP, SK, and Sinopec, were invited to attend the meeting.

"Zhoushan is abundant in solar energy, wind energy, tidal current energy, and other clean energy," said an attendant at the meeting.

The city has housed a group of energy companies with strong competitiveness, including Sinopec, Zhejiang Energy Group, SPIC, and ZPC, and many clean energy projects have operated there.

With its sound industrial base and advantageous geographical location, Liuheng is ramping up efforts to develop its clean energy industry. An industrial development pattern centering around the energy industry and supported by port-surrounding equipment manufacturing, as well as bulk commodity storage and transportation has taken shape on the island.

All of these trends have laid a solid foundation for Liuheng's construction of an energy island.

Currently, the first hydrogen-powered buses in Zhoushan are operating on Liuheng Island. It also became the first place in the city to have a combined cooling, heating, and power supply system.

All the attendants at the meeting acknowledged Liuheng's rich natural resources and good industrial base, as well as expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with Liuheng and to participate in Liuheng's energy island construction.
