Nearly 60 Chinese students studying overseas from Zhoushan and Ningbo visited the two cities during a six-day activity, which was held from June 28 to July 3, local media reported.

These students are currently studying at universities in 12 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, as well as Macao.

They visited red tourism sites and renowned companies, experienced local culture, as well as attended training sessions for starting up a business in Zhoushan to learn about local economic development, preferential policies, history, and culture.

Although overseas Chinese students study in other countries and regions, their power should not be underestimated, said a representative from the Zhoushan Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, one of the event's sponsors.

He also noted that these students should introduce the achievements made by Zhejiang in constructing a demonstration area of common prosperity to other countries and regions.

Officials from both Zhoushan and Ningbo said that they believe that the two cities are in dire need of high-end talents and can also offer them an ideal business environment. They added that they hope overseas Chinese students will come back to the hometown to make their own contributions to local development.

The event has been held for five years and to date, more than 50 overseas Chinese students have returned to Zhoushan to start a business.
