Jintang Island, the fourth largest island in the Zhoushan Archipelago, East China's Zhejiang province, has experienced accelerated development after the Zhoushan Cross-sea Bridge opened to the traffic in 2009, local media reported.

The bridge brought an end to Jintang's isolation, connecting the island to Zhoushan Island and Ningbo.

"The cross-sea bridge has changed our local residents' lives and has especially improved our incomes as the bridge makes it more convenient to transport our specialty screws," said He Hongxia from Jintang.

Thanks to the bridge, as well as 40 years of development, Jintang has become the largest manufacturing base of screws for injection molding machines in China, with its screws accounting for more than 80 percent of the market share in the country.

Jintang Island is also a sea portal of Ningbo Zhoushan Port and its Dapukou container terminal is the demonstration project of the integration of Ningbo and Zhoushan ports.

Currently, Dapukou terminal has two berths and 16 routes reaching Russia and West Africa. The terminal has also been expanding its business.

As of June 22, Dapukou terminal had delivered 730,000 twenty-foot equivalent-units this year, a year-on-year increase of 15.3 percent, according to the terminal's operator Dapukou Container Terminal Co.
