Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province had recruited 7,132 university graduates by May this year, a year-on-year increase of 193 percent, local media reported.

"The number of graduates recruited by non-public-owned companies experienced a larger increase than last year, a highlight of this year's university student recruitment," noted a representative from Zhoushan's talent office.

Non-public-owned companies in the city recruited 6,474 university graduates this year, a year-on-year increase of 225 percent, including 2,981 students with a bachelor's degree and 241 students with a master's degree.

Since the beginning of the year, Zhoushan has organized recruitment fairs in Guizhou, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, and Shanxi provinces, as well as held online recruitment events.

As of now, 496 companies in the city have offered 7,924 jobs and 316,000 students have applied for these jobs.

"We have been organizing 300 local major companies to recruit students at the 30 or so key universities in the country since this year," said the representative.

He added that they used big data to analyze the trends of university student recruitment in Zhoushan over the past three years and based on the city's industrial structure, students' willingness, as well as university features, Zhoushan launched different QR codes for different universities during job fairs to help local companies find the most appropriate employees as quickly as possible.
