Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, topped the list of industrial parks of its kind with the most potential in the country, according to a forum held in Yantai, Shandong province from June 2 to 4.

The industrial park leads the world in scale and refining-chemical integration. Since it began operations in 2017, the industrial park has processed more than 40 million metric tons of crude oil and generated nearly 140 billion yuan ($21.89 billion) in output value.

Private company Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group is the industrial park's controller, which is expected to encourage more private chemical companies to participate in the petrochemical industry.

In addition, the construction and production activities in the industrial park have been playing a significant role in promoting the expansion of industrial chains, developing Zhoushan's transportation industry, and creating more jobs.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the industrial park's refining-chemical integration project, with an annual processing capacity of 40 million tons, will be put into operation. In addition, the industrial park plans to start constructing its third phase in this period.
