Zhoushan to subsidize more vocational trainees

Updated : 2021-06-04 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recently updated its subsidy standards for training concerning vocational skills, local media reported on June 2.

Workers who attend training on working skills, starting businesses, and other training sessions for more than 200 professions, as well as obtain the relevant certificate will be able to apply for a maximum of 4,000 yuan ($624.59) in subsidies from the local government.

"Compared with previous years, such subsidies are available to more workers," said a senior official from the Zhoushan human resources and social security bureau.

He added that vocational positions like live-streaming salespeople, online store owners, senior care workers, homemaking service attendants, and raw materials processors for aquatic products have been included in the subsidy standards.

Companies that carry out apprenticeship training and identify their workers skills level by themselves can also receive such subsidies.

Zhoushan launched plans to promote the improvement of local employees' vocational skills at the end of 2019 and allocated 180 million yuan for vocational training.

The city is expected to offer vocational training to more than 100,000 local workers by the end of this year.

To date, a total of 18,500 workers in Zhoushan have received training and the city has distributed subsidies worth more than 23.6 million yuan.
