Zhoushan promotes its aquatic products in Shanghai

The Zhoushan municipal bureau of commerce organized a promotional meeting for its aquatic products at the 22nd SIAL China, a food and beverage exhibition held in Shanghai from May 18 to 20, local media reported.

Zhejiang Zhoushan International Agricultural Products Trade Center Co Ltd, Zhejiang Ocean Family Co Ltd, China Aquatic Products Zhoushan Marine Fisheries Corp, Zhejiang Xingye Group Co Ltd, and Zhejiang Shenghai Fishery Group Co Ltd introduced their distant-water cloud supply chain platform, tuna-made products, spiced squid, minced fish products, as well as mussels respectively.

Zhoushan Putuo Huaxing Aquatic Products Co Ltd promoted its various products, including bamboo prawn, octopus, crabapple carp, and snapper.

In addition, Zhoushan companies also reached agreements on four projects at the exhibition.

Zhejiang Zhoushan International Agricultural Products Trade Center Co Ltd signed a memorandum of cooperation with a Shanghai catering supply chain, Zhoushan Putuo Huaxing Aquatic Products Co Ltd inked a cooperation agreement worth more than 100 million yuan ($15.51 million) with Mitsui & Co (Shanghai) Ltd, while China Aquatic Products Zhoushan Marine Fisheries Corp entered a purchase and sale contract worth 4.32 million yuan with Shanghai Shanshuo Trade Co Ltd.

The marine fishery industry is an important part of Zhoushan's marine economy. In 2020, the total output of the fishery industry in the city amounted to 1.79 million metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.06 percent, while the per capita income of its fishermen reached 35,887 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.12 percent.

In recent years, the local commerce bureau has organized a series of activities to expand the market for the city's aquatic products. Over the next few months, the bureau will organize local companies to attend more exhibitions, including the China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo.
