Zhoushan helps cities' poverty alleviation via technology

Updated : 2021-05-17 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has helped the poverty alleviation efforts made by cities in Northeast China's Jilin province and Southwest China's Sichuan province via technology, local media reported recently.

The city has organized its local sci-tech bureau, research institutes, universities, and sci-tech service agencies to offer technological services to Songyuan in Jilin and Dazhou in Sichuan since it was partnered with them to assist their poverty alleviation efforts in 2018.

The three cities will synchronously update their technology policies, technological achievements, enterprise requirements, and talent exchange activities.

Zhoushan has organized 12 online and offline activities for the two cities, promoted 15 technological cooperations, as well as offered them seven key technologies.

In 2020, Zhoushan published 37 technological demands and achievements for Songyuan, as well as 22 for Dazhou. It also recommended more than 10 projects from the two cities to its local universities and research institutes.

In addition, Zhoushan also organized local technological experts to provide assistance for the two cities.

Due to the liquid nitrogen quick-freezing technology from the Zhoushan Marine Research Center of Zhejiang University, the popular yellow beef in Xuanhan, a county in Dazhou, can retain its freshness for a long time and is expected to increase its annual output value by another 50 million yuan ($7.77 million).

Moving forward, the three cities will cooperate in solving key technological problems involving eco-friendly petrochemical engineering, new energy, new materials, biological medicine, and modern agriculture.
