Zhoushan plans to invest nearly 10b yuan in transportation

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province plans to invest 9.7 billion yuan ($1.51 billion) in 70 transportation projects this year, according to the municipal bureau of transportation.

The Ningbo-Zhoushan railway is the most important transportation project for the city, which will allocate 1.5 billion yuan for the project this year.

Twenty-three highways have also been listed among the projects, with a total investment of 2.91 billion yuan, including the main road to Ningbo-Zhoushan Port and reconstruction of the Shengsi section of G526.

In terms of water transport, Zhoushan plans to invest 3.29 billion yuan in nine port and channel projects this year, including a 50,000-metric ton approach channel at Yushan Port, the expansion project of the 300,000-ton artificial waterway outside of Xiazhimen channel, as well as a container terminal.

In terms of air transport, the city is expected to invest 20 million yuan in three projects, including the reconstruction and expansion of the terminal at Putuoshan Airport.

In addition, Zhoushan plans to invest 543 million yuan in establishing nine passenger stations, including the Donggang passenger station, a smart parking lot at Banshengdong wharf, and a traffic distribution center in Daishan county.

The city also plans to invest 66 million yuan in paving two greenways, which are designed to connect the rural and uban areas in Shengsi county, as well as connect Shangchuantiao village with Lulanqing sandbeach in Daishan county respectively.
