Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recently issued its 20th 5-year foreigner work permit to a Singaporean scientist working in the Zhoushan area of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, local media reported.
Holders of the 5-year foreigner work permit in the city are high-level foreign talent.
Given the development of the Zhejiang FTZ, Zhoushan has doubled its efforts to attract overseas talent.
The city is the first in Zhejiang to allow applicants to obtain a foreigner work permit and residence certificate after just one visit to the relevant local government office. The approval time has also been reduced from 45 to seven working days.
To date, more than 3,200 foreigners in Zhoushan have benefited from the efficient administrative service.
During the 13th Five-Year plan period (2016-20), more than 50 foreign experts in Zhoushan won national and provincial recognition, and the city's foreign experts received subsidies of more than 60 million yuan ($9.28 million).
These foreign experts have brought some economic and social benefits to Zhoushan.
For example, due to the variety of new products developed by a Japanese specialist, the output value of Zhejiang Hairoad Food Co totaled 350 million yuan in 2020, nearly 50 million yuan more than in 2019.
Moving forward, Zhoushan will publish more favorable measures, including loosening restrictions on age, education background, and work experience.
