Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province secured eight projects worth 1.28 billion yuan ($194.93 million) on April 3, local media reported.

All the eight projects are expected to be operated in the Marine Industry Cluster Area, Zhoushan Archipelago New Area.

"The new projects involve intelligent manufacturing, marine biomedicine, and import bonded processing," said Zhuang Youfang, deputy director of the Marine Industry Cluster Area.

According to Zhuang, five of the projects will be located in the Zhoushan High Tech Industrial Zone and the remaining three will be located in the Zhoushan Port Free Trade Zone.

The deputy director noted, "These projects will offer support to industrial upgrading and increase revenue tax of the cluster area."

The machinery manufacturing industrial park broke ground on the same day. With an estimated investment of 870 million yuan, the 80,000-square meter industrial park will attract machinery manufacturing companies engaged in package testing, mechanical transmission, and numerical control machines.

The Marine Industry Cluster Area is a major provincial-level cluster area including a provincial high tech industrial zone and a national bonded area.

The cluster area focuses on clean marine energy, port logistics and port and shipping service, ships and port-surrounding equipment, port-surrounding petrochemical, marine tourism, modern fishing industry, deep processing of aquatic products, and bulk commodity processing.
