The China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Zhoushan has performed well in institutional reform and innovation, local media reported on March 29.
Recently, a ship from Marshall Islands has benefited from the FTZ's reform.
For instance, the streamlined administrative process for border control among ports in the Yangtze River Delta saved the ship manager a trip to the service office as the ship left Zhoushan Port for Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province after unloading 60,000 metric tons of soy beans.
Wang Zhouwen from the Zhoushan entry-exit border inspection station said, "We just need to check the relevant data about the international ship from the last YRD port where it departed, and the entire process would take about two to three minutes."
Since the streamlined process was introduced in December last year, the Zhoushan entry-exit border inspection station has offered border inspection service to 527 international ships, helping them save about 1,218 hours and 9.17 million yuan ($1.4 million) in operational costs.
Since its operation in 2017, the Zhejiang FTZ has implemented 161 institutional innovations, 28 of which have been replicated around the country.
In the future, Zhejiang FTZ will continue making innovations in institutional reform in order to become a hub of reform and opening-up in the new era.
