The town of Daidong in Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, has recently been shortlisted for provincial sports and entertainment town cultivation along with seven other counterparts in the province, local media reported on March 25.

Located on Daishan Island, Daidong boasts a sound natural environment, as well as abundant sports and entertainment resources.

The town provides good conditions for kite flying, cycling, hiking, mountain climbing, half marathons, and sea sports events.

Lulanqing is the largest sandbeach in East China, as well as the kite base of Zhejiang province. The sandbeach is an ideal place for a variety of activities like flying kites, as well as playing beach volleyball and beach football.

The seaside beach sports base, which is under construction at Haijia Park in the town, is expected to be equipped with sports facilities, including a bikeway and a hiking trail, to make it more convenient to organize more sports events in the future.

In addition, the Museum of Coastal Defense and Typhoon Museum in the town can organize military games and national defense education activities for teenagers.

Currently, Daidong has formulated a plan for the construction of a sports and entertainment town.

According to the plan, the town will be divided into six areas with different functions, including beach sports, marine culture experiences, sea sports, and general sports and entertainment.
