Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province will provide free COVID-19 inoculations to all residents above the age of 18, according to a news conference held in the city on March 18.
Previously, the vaccinations were limited to those who work in high-risk areas or have plans to work or study abroad.
Since the inoculation process started in September 2020, a total of 1,396,200 individuals in the city have been fully vaccinated with two shots.
The vaccines being used in the city are made by either Sinopharm or Sinovac. The recipient is required to take two shots two to four weeks apart.
Those who were previous infected with COVID-19 or have severe allergies, severe chronic diseases, nervous system diseases, as well as patients with immunodeficiency and women who are pregnant or breast feeding cannot receive the vaccine.
