The China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, most of which is located in Zhoushan, is the first area in China to start sharing border check data and mutual recognition of supervision between ports at the Yangtze River Delta, local media reported on March 1.

This move was shortlisted as one of the 10 major institutional innovations of the Zhejiang FTZ in 2020.

Because of information sharing and coordinated supervision, international ships will be exempt from border checks when moving between ports in the YRD.

For example, administrators of international ships no longer need to visit the Zhoushan entry-exit border inspection office after making an online declaration for border check at Zhoushan Port – a quick phone call would suffice.

Then the office worker can deal with the declaration at the online ship declaration and inspection platform where all the ship's information at last port is available.

The entire procedure has been reduced to just three minutes from the previous one hour.

Two months since the measure was implemented, more than 320 international ships have benefited from the innovation.

Experts believe that coordinated inspection and information sharing is an important part of the integrated development of the YRD.
