The International Maritime Service Base in the Zhoushan area of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone is expecting a strong start in the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), local media reported on Feb 25.

In the first two months of this year, the service base is projected to offer 800,000 metric tons of bonded fuel oil and $130 million in supplies and generate 900 million yuan ($139.45 million) in international ship repairs.

The service base is expected to be internationally competitive and influential by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

During this period, the scale of the base's maritime service industry is expected to amount to around 50 billion yuan, and it is also projected to attract more than 1,000 companies, build bunker oil and liquefied natural gas supply centers for international ships, and develop international ship repair and sailor services.

This year, the output value of the base's maritime services is expected to increase 30 percent year-on-year to 35 billion yuan by expanding the maritime service market, improving maritime infrastructure, publishing supporting policies, and other measures.
