Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has taken various measures to help local companies recruit and retain workers after the Spring Festival holiday, local media reported.

As of Feb 20, 225 companies in the city have resumed operations, 72 of which have a labor shortage.

In recent days, Ni Yudi, director of the human resources department of Zhejiang Golden Eagle Co, has been busy recruiting employees. "Workers tend to find new jobs around the Spring Festival," she said, adding that the company usually recruits new workers around this period.

According to Ni, she has mobilized Golden Eagle's employees to help the company recruit workers from their hometowns. She also expects to hire more employees from both the online recruitment and the job fairs organized by Zhoushan's human resources and social security bureau.

During the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, Zhoushan launched online recruiting events, offering more than 300 job opportunities, as well as organized three video job fairs, where 64 companies in the city provided 252 job opportunities.

In the future, the human resources and social security bureau will continue monitoring the local employment situation, as well as focus its employee recruitment in Sichuan, Yunnan, Anhui, Henan, and Jilin provinces.

The bureau will also help local companies resume operations as soon as possible by assisting them find workers and helping transport their employees who had travelled to their hometowns for the Spring Festival holiday.
