Zhoushan plans to improve the living standards for locals in 12 different ways this year, as was decided by deputies to the Seventh Zhoushan Municipal People's Congress during the sixth session.

The city will finish construction on 559 resettlement houses and distribute rent subsidies to an additional 290 households.

One hundred fifty local communities will be equipped with intelligent security facilities, 32 kilometers of rural roads will be renovated, and street lamps will be available on 17.8 km of roads in fishing villages.

Construction of five kindergartens will be completed and a municipal-level school for people with special needs will be constructed, including a three-year preschool rehabilitation education program, nine years of compulsory education, and three years of vocational education.

Mental health screenings will be carried out on primary school students above fourth grade and a city-wide visual health monitoring data platform for children and adolescents will be established to reduce bias.

Seven home-based elderly service centers will be established and 15 rural health centers will be renovated.

The city will offer assistance to 1,000 people with disabilities to help them see, move, and hear better, and will provide rescuing rehabilitation services to 110 children with disabilities. It will also help renovate 200 households with disabled family members by adding barrier-free facilities.

Moreover, 8.3 km of rivers will be dredged and improved.
