The fifth session of the Seventh Zhoushan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in the city of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on Feb 2, local media reported.

A total of 276 CPPCC Zhoushan committee members from all walks of life gathered in the meeting hall to discuss the committee's achievements and future direction. A total of 289 proposals were submitted.

The three-day session kicked off to the rousing sounds of the Chinese national anthem, and Wang Wei, executive chairman of the seventh CPPCC Zhoushan Municipal Committee, reviewed the the committee's work over the past year.

Under the leadership of the Zhoushan municipal Party committee, the CPPCC Zhoushan committee focused on unity and democracy and made significant contributions to local economic development and maintaining social stability amid the COVID-19 outbreak last year.

Wu added that under the guidance of the central, provincial, and municipal governments, the CPPCC Zhoushan committee will continue to play an important role in political consulting and help build Zhoushan into a modern sea garden city.
