Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province generated more than 2 billion yuan ($305.53 million) in online retail sales during the East China Sea Fishing Festival held over the past two months, local media reported.

Ten different activities were held from September to October to boost the high-quality development of the fishing industry in Zhoushan. These projects included investment promotions, exhibitions of aquatic products, and live broadcasts.

On Nov 16, the live broadcast of the festival's opening ceremony on the online platforms of media outlets was viewed by 890,000 netizens around China.

The festival is sponsored by the Zhoushan municipal government and organized by the Zhoushan municipal bureaus of commerce, ocean, and fishing, as well as other institutions.
