The village will be allocated 7 million yuan ($1.07 million) to go toward village renovation and cultural protection by the local provincial government.
Jinshan is surrounded by green mountains and has a river running through it. It was established by the ancestor of the Jiang family during the reign of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and a complete genealogy of the Jiang family is still intact to this day.
Throughout its long history, the village has developed a distinct culture and is home to various intangible cultural heritage items, including Zhoushan drum playing and the dragon and lion dance.
Jinshan village establishes its first dragon dance team in 1992. Dragon dance is performed as a way of praying for good weather and a good harvest. [Photo/WeChat account: zjzsqdxq]
