Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province promoted itself in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, on Nov 18, local media reported.
More than 50 tourism companies and over 20 mainstream media outlets from Zhengzhou participated in the promotional event.
Officials from the Zhoushan municipal culture and tourism department introduced the city's unique island scenery, fishing culture, and rich history, while officials from the culture and tourism departments of districts and counties in the city showcased their special tourism products.
Relations between Zhoushan and Zhengzhou began with a tea party held by the two cities in 2018, after Henan province became another primary source of tourism to the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Putuo Mountain, located in Zhoushan.
The promotional event aims to further enhance cultural and tourism exchange between Zhoushan and Zhengzhou and help boost the high-quality development of their respective tourism industries.
The Zhoushan delegation will organize promotional events in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in following days.
Lying on the coast of the East China Sea, Zhoushan is the easternmost city in China and consists of 1,390 islands.
The city is famed as the "Buddha Realm Between Sea and Sky" and the "City of Fishery and Ports" due to its rich Buddhist culture and strong fishing industry. It attracts many tourists every year with its enchanting island scenery, delicious seafood and fascinating Buddhist culture.
