The oil and gas throughput at Zhoushan Port area set a record in the first 10 months of this year, according to the Zhoushan municipal shipping and port bureau.
The port area saw a throughput of 105.49 million tons of oil and gas from January to October, a year-on-year increase of 50 percent.
Jiang Haiping, director of the shipping and port bureau, said that oil and gas throughput is growing quicker than any other cargo at Zhoushan Port area.
The volume of oil and gas delivered by the oil product emergency wharf on Waidiao Island, ENN liquefied natural gas wharf, Dading Oil Storage Co Ltd and Zhoushan Century Pacific Chemical Co Ltd experienced respective year-on-year increases of 322 percent, 256 percent, 48.4 percent, and 68.7 percent to 19.18 million tons, 1.85 million tons, 5.38 million tons and 2.65 million tons, respectively.
Thanks to the bunker supply qualification obtained by the oil depot on Huangzeshan Island, the application of a bunker supply control system, and lower pilotage charges at Mazhi anchorage ground, more international ships were also refueled at Zhoushan Port.
In the first 10 months, the bunker supply at Zhoushan Port totaled 3.68 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent.
During the same period, 569 international oil carriers berthed at Zhoushan Port, 147 more than last year, and a total of 55.72 million tons of oil and gas was delivered to the port, a year-on-year increase of 41.7 percent.
Four hundred ships refueled with bonded oil were piloted at Zhoushan Port in the Jan-Oct period, a yearly growth of 143.8 percent.
