Zhoushan Museum in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, ranked 77th on a list of the top 100 popular museums in China in the third quarter of this year, local media reported on Nov 10.
The top 100 popular museums list was formed based on the exhibitions, number of visitors, broadcasting, and brand value of 3,000 registered museums at the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
The Zhoushan Museum was originally established in the 1950s and reopened to the public at a new site in 2014.
The museum covers an area of 14,100 square meters and showcases more than 10,000 collections in its 6,120-sq-m exhibition area, including porcelain, jade articles, calligraphy works, paintings, and paleontological fossils.
The natural resources, unique fishing customs, and history of Zhoushan are the focuses of the museum's exhibitions.
