Alibaba's Tmall reaps 300m yuan from Zhoushan residents on Singles Day

Residents of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, spent 302 million yuan ($45.78 million) on Tmall, Alibaba's online market place, on China's Singles' Day, which falls on Nov 11, local media reported.

Among the four districts and counties in Zhoushan, Dinghai district has the largest number of shoppers.

Zhoushan's big winner was Sunsun Group Co Ltd, an aquarium filter manufacturer. The sales revenue of Sunsun's 10 online stores was more than 11 million yuan on Nov 11, according to Zhang Chaojun, manager of the company's e-commerce department.

In addition, online traders of fresh and dried seafood, accessories for mobile phones, and health care products generated more than 100 million yuan in sales revenue on Singles Day in Zhoushan.

The Double 11 shopping gala, the world's largest biggest online shopping event, runs from Nov 1 to 20 this year. Tmall Singles Day sales reached 372.3 billion yuan in the 10 days and 30 minutes since Nov 1.
