The Dahuansghan mine in Cezi Island, Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, produced more than 10 million metric tons of sand and gravel aggregate this year, local media reported on Oct 26.

Construction on Dahuansghan mine began in June 2018 and by the end of 2019, the mine had begun operating.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year, Dahuansghan mine halted operations until early March this year.

Over the past eight months, sand and gravel deliveries at the Dahuangshan mine exceeded 10 million tons, and the total output of the mine was more than 800 million yuan ($119.32 million).

In order to improve the quality of sand, gravel, and the local natural environment, Dahuangshan mine is using wet processing to minimize dust, according to Zhang Junrui, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Jiaotou Mining Co Ltd, which is in charge of developing Dahuangshan mine.

Zhang said that sand and gravel are transported through totally-enclosed conveyers to the nearest ports and then loaded onto ships via an automatic delivery system.

The highest daily output of Dahuangshan mine is 60,000 tons, while the total output is expected to reach 13 million tons by the end of this year.

Sand and gravel produced at the Dahuangshan mine are widely used in the construction of infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region.

In addition, Dahuangshan mine uses eco-friendly technology and is expected to become a State-level "garden mine" next year.
