Liangzhi, a village in Qushan Island, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has been seeking to boost rural tourism through wall paintings, local media reported on Oct 27.

In recent years, the village has used its fishing culture to develop rural tourism, which has been well received by tourists from the Yangtze River Delta.

Liangzhi is currently home to 80 homestays and has been named a provincial-level "beautiful village".

However, improving its fishing-themed tourism has become a new focus of the village.

"We've invited experts from Shanghai to offer advice on how to boost the local tourism industry," said Wang Zhiyue, first scretary of the Party branch of Liangzhi village, "But their proposals do not adequately showcase our local culture and fishing life."

This year, they invited Zhang Gaojun, who is familiar with marine culture, to create paintings on seawalls.

Zhang said that he was amazed by Liangzhi's scenic views and leisurely lifestyle and decided to depict Zhoushan's fishing culture with his brush on seawalls: fishing boats full of fish, dinghies busy delivering supplies, anchors lying on the beach, and fishermen arranging fish, weaving fishing nets, and tending dried fish.

The 180-meter seawall painting, adorned with colorful lights, has become one of Qushan Island's must-see attractions.

In addition to the seawall, walls of residential buildings in Liangzhi have also become canvases, which attract much attention from tourists.
