Cargo throughput at Zhoushan Port in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, increased 7.08 percent year-on-year to 434 million metric tons in the first three quarters of the year, local media reported on Oct 22.
Cargo throughput involving foreign trade soared 13.48 percent year-on-year to 134 million tons during the same period, and the port delivered 93.92 million tons of oil and gas, a year-on-year increase of 50.62 percent.
A total of 6.55 million tons of grain were delivered at the port, a 25.69 percent year-on-year increase, while 21.05 million tons of coal were transported, a 7.01 percent year-on-year increase.
It also delivered 1.29 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers, a year-on-year increase of 20.01 percent.
Meanwhile, the amount of iron ore transported through the port exceeded 130 million tons, nearly the same as last year.
Cargo throughput at Zhoushan Port is expected to reach 567 million tons this year, and oil and gas throughput is expected to exceed 100 million tons for the first time.
