Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province is collecting ideas for original city logos in an effort to better promote itself, local media reported on Oct 17.

Submitted designs should satisfy contemporary aesthetic requirements, have a strong visual impact, and contain a distinct symbolic meaning.

Designs must be sent along with a brief explanation of the design containing no less than 50 words, an introduction of the artist, the artist's contact information, and the artist's email address to 1134072661@qq.com before the deadline on Oct 31.

Five winners will be selected and an award of up to 80,000 yuan ($11,958) will be given to each of them.

The Zhoushan Islands consists of 1,390 islands, each of which has its own unique characteristics, such as the buddhist Putuo Mountain, the refreshing Huaniao Island, the bustling Shenjiamen Island, and the serene Dongji Island.
