2020 Zhoushan Islands Marathon to start in Nov

The 2020 Zhoushan Islands Marathon is scheduled to be held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on Nov 15, according to a news conference on Oct 12.

The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, and mini marathon covering distances of 42.195 kilometers, 21.0975 km, and 6 km, respectively.

The total number of contestants this year will be limited to 15,000, of which 3,000 spots are allocated for the full marathon, 6,000 for the half marathon, and 6,000 for the mini marathon.

One thousand spots will be given to medical workers free of charge in honor of their contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year

The course for the marathon, which is the only island marathon in China, spans two islands and boasts beautiful coastal scenery. It was named the "Most Beautiful Race Course in China" by the Chinese Athletics Association.

Runners will set out from the city's Putuo Theater, and participants of the full and mini marathons will pass by Donggang New City, Shenjiamen, Changzhi Island, and other famous buildings in Zhoushan, finishing at the Zhoushan Sports Center.

Runners can sign up for the event by logging onto the official website. Prices are 120 yuan ($17.62), 100 yuan, and 60 yuan for the full marathon, half marathon, and mini marathon, respectively.

From Nov 13 to 15, the organizing committee of the 2020 Zhoushan Islands Marathon will organize a three-day fair for the event, during which participants can experience Zhoushan's unique culture and enjoy local delicacies.

The Zhoushan Islands consist of eight main islands, with Zhoushan Island being the largest among them, as well as the fourth largest island in China.

With its pleasant natural environment, abundance of aquatic products, and a variety of marine sports, the city attracts numerous visitors from home and abroad every year.
