The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has recently designated two fishing ports in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province as State-level marine fishing harvest landing ports, along with 64 other ports throughout China, local media reported on Sept 21.

Shenjiamen fishing port

Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River on the east coast, Shenjiamen fishing port is the largest shelter harbor in the world and is known as the "Fishing City of the East."

In early 2016, the port was listed as a provincial special town and started developing its tourism industry based on its fishing culture and delicious seafood.

Shengshan fishing port

Shengshan fishing port, along with Shenjiamen fishing port and Qushan fishing port, is among the three major fishing ports in Zhoushan.

The Shengshan sea area is abundant in hairtail, inkfish, butterfish, shrimp, portunid, sea eel, large yellow croaker, and garrupa.

During fishing season, more than 10,000 fishing boats and hundreds of thousands of fishermen from coastal provinces and cities gather in Shengshan.
